When we started our company, our belief then and remains today is that we must offer our customers information that is relevant, true, backed with data and provided them with a choice in the direction they want to take in their pursuit of health. We believed then and now that an unbiased forum was the solution so we created Clean Green Café as a place where people could go for information that was separate from our business web site. We had hoped that people would join, write us and ask questions so that we could offer our opinions and thoughts. Unfortunately, with thousands of visits a month very few people joined to ask questions. We suspect that it is the process of having to join, but if we did not require this membership, our forum would be terribly spammed as it was after only one-day of opening Clean Green Café without membership.

We have searched for a solution and we think that we have found a way to expand the information content without requiring membership. In the next few months with the help of our friends at Apple and YouTube, Keys will embark on a site that will continue to feature the forum, but also add audio interviews, Podcasts, RSS feeds and our own feed broadcasts to other industry sources. It is exciting and a lot of work. It is the next generation of offering information and content.

The new site will offer a email entry portal where anyone can ask me, our technologist and our scientist question. We will answer some directly as we do now through our customer service team and we will choose ones that we fell have a broader appeal and then publish them on Clean Green Café in the form of audio interviews. Our hope is to also offer a syndicated radio show on iTunes and other Podcast sites. Again, it is a big undertaking and we feel it is important.

The Dirty Thirty is the next generation of the Dirty Dozen chemicals that was developed by the Marin County Cancer Project. This new expansive list outlines 30 chemical ingredients that may be linked to cancer. Many have been banned by the European Union on suspicion of their toxicity. What you may not know is that many of the biggest manufacturers of these products reformulate without these chemicals for the European market, but continue to manufacture with these potentially dangerous chemicals for the US market. Our hope is that you will use this list to help navigate your new purchases, and use your buying power to protect your right to health and a healthy world. This list was compiled by Teens for Safe Cosmetics based on a survey of over 500 teens who named the products and brands they were using daily. In collaboration with a chemist, the ubiquitous chemicals were investigated for their potential harm to our health.

The premise here is that chemicals that we put on our body are absorbed and cause various reactions.  Like the old adage that, “Too much of a good thing is bad”, many chemicals that have been added to our personal care products accumulate over time creating adverse reactions.  This is why we talk so much about sulfates in laundry detergents and personal care products, parabens that not only kill germs in products, but they kill the probiotics on the skin and glycols that make products consistent in various temperature, but make our skin more permeable to disease.  We believe that these 30 chemicals all have both adverse and cumulative effects and have been found in the blood of those that have undergone full body burden lab panel blood tests.
